Holocaust Remembrance at Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County
Glen Cove, NY – Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano, members of the Nassau County Jewish Advisory Council and the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County will be holding a unique afternoon of tours at the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County in observation of Yom HaShoah, tomorrow, April 10th from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. County Executive Mangano is expected to speak at 3:00 p.m.
Yom HaShoah, which is Hebrew for Holocaust Remembrance Day, is designated as a universal day of commemoration for the 6 million Jews who perished in the Holocaust at the hands of the Nazis, during WWII. It is also a day to honor and recognize the bright light of bravery and resourcefulness of the Jewish resistance during that dark period.
The afternoon will include a special tour of the center, located in Nassau County’s beautiful Welwyn Preserve followed by a continuing Legal Education Program – Lessons of the Holocaust: Legal Issues on Labor Exploitation and Hate Crimes moderated by Nassau County Attorney John Ciampoli.
