Mangano Celebrates the Re-Opening of Sandy Devastated Businesses

By Bushra Mollick

Hurricane Sandy affected thousands of residents in Nassau County; flooding out homes, shutting down schools and destroying businesses.

But not all businesses have remained closed – some proved to be stronger than the storm.

Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano showed his support last Friday during the re-opening of four Island Park businesses. Residents of the Village were also celebrating as stores re-opened, returning jobs and, once again, catering to their community.

Pancho’s Cantina opened at noon, and was able to serve their fresh fajitas to the public. A&T Garden Center will return to selling roses, daffodils and peonies as the summer season gets into full swing. Empire Point Arena and Century 21 Scully Reality are also back in business.

Mangano’s efforts to rebuild Nassau and keep it moving forward after Sandy have not wavered. The re-opening of these businesses is a positive sign of that.
