Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano today invited residents of all ages to join him on the road to a healthier lifestyle, by attending the County’s largest ever Health and Wellness Fair.
The Sunday, August 18th event will be held at the Mitchel Field Athletic Complex in Uniondale, from 10 am to 4 pm, and will host more than 100 health care providers from various areas of physical, mental and behavioral health.
Mangano said that attendees can participate in medical screenings; healthy cooking demonstrations and exercise classes – all for free – thanks to sponsors Winthrop-University Hospital and North Shore LIJ.

“So, if you’re looking for expert nutritional advice to help keep your diabetes in check – Or maybe you’re wondering whether you could have an addiction to drugs or alcohol? then join me at this incredible array of resources,” Mangano said.
County Executive Mangano said this event is part of the ongoing efforts to keep Nassau residents healthy and safe, on the part of himself and Health Commissioner Dr. Lawrence Eisenstein.
The collaborative effort also involves multiple county agencies and related health and human service providers, seeking to promote access to health care, encourage preventative health screenings and provide residents with information to help them live a healthier lifestyle.
Representatives from the various health and wellness-related fields will provide free workshops, medical screenings such as mammograms, exercise classes, amusement and carnival style games, a mobile interactive gaming truck, interactive photo booths and back-to-school supplies.
There will be a free raffle for a 50” flat screen tv.
Other sponsors of the Fair include Affinity Health Plan, Fidelis Care, Island Harvest, LA/Fitness, United Health Care, Veterans Protected, New York Blood Center, Long Island Cares, Health First and Health Plus.
“I am honored to partner and participate with North Shore-LIJ Health System and Winthrop-University Hospital to bring such important health and wellness services to the residents of Nassau County,” said County Executive Mangano. “This fair is another example of partnering together to bring outstanding services to the community.”
