Taekwondo Championships Benefit Sandy Survivor

Mineola, NY – Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano (4th left) and Father Kevin Smith (5th right) accepted a check for over $4,000 from former U.S. Olympic Coach and current Korean American Businessman Yeon Hwan Park (5th left) for the Nassau Hurricane Recovery Fund (NHRF). After hosting the 2013 New York Open Taekwondo Championships and Korean Cultural Festival at Cantiague Park in October, Grandmaster Park offered to donate all of the proceeds from this event to the NHRF. Rev. Kevin Smith serves as Chair and Executive Director of the NHRF which has provided assistance to 136 families affected by Hurricane Sandy.

County Executive Mangano presented Citations to Grandmaster Park and his team of instructors who were instrumental in raising the money at the New York Open Taekwondo Championship-Korean Cultural Festival at Cantiague Park. Park, the Nassau Hurricane Recovery Fund has helped 136 families struggling to recovery from Hurricane Sandy.”
