Nassau Cracks Down on Phony Prescriptions for Opiates

Nassau Police today announced the arrest of a Hicksville man for attempting to obtain Opiates with phony prescriptions, on several occasions between December 2013 and January 2014.

The Police Department’s Narcotics/Vice Bureau said Adeel Riaz, 28, was apprehended at home, Wednesday, June 4. He is accused of misrepresenting himself as a licensed physician and calling in fraudulent prescriptions to multiple pharmacies for Oxycodone and Xanax – to be filled in the names of different individuals.

Riaz was charged with 16 counts of Falsifying Business Records 1st degree, 15 counts of Identity Theft 2nd degree, and 9 counts of Criminal Impersonation 1st degree. He will be arraigned on Thursday June 5, 2014 at First District Court.
