By Caitlin Kelly

Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano honored 244 Eagle Scouts and 70 Girl Scout Gold on Thursday at an Award Ceremony held in the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building in Mineola.

The Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts of the United States of America are youth organizations that strive to help its members build strong values that develop confidence, character, and compassion.

In addition to earning numerous badges, the recipients of the prestigious Eagle Scout Award have upheld the Boy Scout Oath by being good citizens, maintaining strong morals, and helping others.

The Gold Award is the highest honor attained by Girl Scouts who must complete 80-hours of an individual leadership community service project that educates and inspires others and has a lasting impact on the local community.

County Executive Mangano said he is proud to honor the achievements of so many Eagle Scouts and Girl Scouts and looks forward to their continued success.
