Nassau County Police reported another overdose reversal yesterday, after reviving a 21-year old women found unconscious in Merrick, by administering the lifesaving antidote – Narcan. A Nassau County Advanced Medical Technician, meanwhile, used Narcan to revive an unconscious 26 year old man in the same location.
According to detectives, First Precinct Police Officers responded along with an AMT to a residence on Washington Street for the two who were both unconscious with shallow breathing. The AMT administered Narcan to the man and police then administered the drug to the women.
Both victims immediately became alert and responsive, and were transported to Nassau University Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
Narcan Training began last month for Nassau County police officers, all of whom should be trained by the end of July. Nassau County also has a Narcan training program for ordinary citizens who regularly come in contact with Opioid abusers.
