The 2014 Long Island International Film Expo drew nearly 200 television and film stars, screenwriters and other interested guests to its closing ceremonies last night at the Bellmore Movies – including Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano, his wife Linda, and acclaimed actor/singer Robert Davi.

Davi – also a director and native New Yorker – received the Long Island Filmmaker Achievement Award from the Long Island Film/TV Foundation at the ceremony.
More than 150 short and feature-length independent films; including music videos and trailers from around the world
were shown throughout the 6-day film festival, as were informative panels and networking opportunities, in what’s being called the “burgeoning film community.”

“We are proud that Nassau County has fostered a film-friendly climate and accumulated over 700 production days per year in our film-friendly County,” County Executive Mangano said. “Nassau County has hosted the largest movie in the history of cinema, The Amazing Spiderman 2, which filmed at both Gold Coast Studios and Grumman studios in Bethpage. Nassau also welcomed a myriad of commercials, television programs, fashion shoots, music videos and independent films. The Good Wife, Babylon Fields, Person of Interest, the Blacklist, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Noah as well as hundreds of other productions have called Nassau County home.”

Mangano said anyone interested in learning more about the many locations Nassau has to offer for production, should call the Nassau County Film Office at 571 3168

Debra Markowitz, the Nassau County Film Office Director and the Vice President of the Long Island Film/TV Foundation introduced Mangano as the “film-friendliest County Executive in the world.”

Master of ceremonies for last night’s event was actor/director Lenny Venito, also a native New Yorker, whose had memorable roles on The Sopranos, Curb Your Enthusiasm, NYPD Blue, and Rescue Me – and is currently shooting the first 2 episodes of season 6 on The Good Wife for CBS.
