Attention artisans, craft-makers, botanists, gardeners and overall Long Island Fair enthusiasts: it’s time once again to plan your entry for the Annual Blue Ribbon contest at the Old Bethpage Village Restoration.
The deadline for entry forms is 4pm on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014 for Advanced and Poetry and, Friday September 12 by 4pm for all other entries.
Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano and the Agricultural Society of Queens, Nassau and Suffolk Counties are pleased to announce that the 172nd annual Long Island Fair, 2014, will take place Sept. 27 and 28th and October 2-5.
“I invite you to be part of a longstanding tradition dating back 172 years – The Long Island Fair,” Mangano said. “Be among the hundreds of Long Islanders of all ages that come and exhibit their wares and produce products in the magnificent Exhibition Hall each year, making the Long Island Fair like no other. Or, come to the event and simply enjoy a day of wholesome festivities. And, for a truly rewarding experience, you can volunteer for the Fair.”
Aside from the contests, the Long Island Fair offers great entertainment; educational exhibits; games for the children; tests of skill and speed for young and old; craft workshops; contests in photography, poetry, hobbies, needlework, culinary and flower arranging; a new Scarecrow building Contest, and new craft projects for ages 3-5.
As has been the custom each year, you’re invited to enter your handcrafts, original art work, needlework, produce, floral arrangements, models, doll houses and culinary delights into the 6-day event and vie for the “best in class” prize.
