Joining the fight against prostate cancer, Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano and the Integrated Medical Foundation encourage men over the age of 40 to have their PSA level checked annually and to sign up for the November 16th Blue Ribbon Run for Prostate Cancer®. The run, with the help of the Greater Long Island Running Club, takes place in Syosset Woodbury Community Park and throughout the streets of Woodbury.
Free on site PSA screenings will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for all men age 40+ who bring photo identification and have not been previously diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Both 5k and 10k routes will be available, making the Blue Ribbon Run for Prostate Cancer® appealing to runners and walkers of all types. The 5k course will remain unchanged from the 3.109 mile course used in 2012 and 2013; the 10k course expands further into the peripheral streets of Syosset, with a beautiful finish line culmination back in the park.
Everyone who signs up for the Blue Ribbon Run for Prostate Cancer® will receive an exclusive hooded sweatshirt. Refreshments and a health exhibit will be onsite. To register for the Blue Ribbon Run for Prostate Cancer® visit IMFcares.org or call the Greater Long Island Running Club at (516) 349-7646.
