Mangano Dedicates East Meadow Soccer Field in Memory of POLICE OFFICER STAN RUPPENTHAL

Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano, Presiding Officer Norma Gonsalves, County Legislator Dennis Dunne and State Assemblyman Michael Montesano joined the Ruppenthal Family and members and players of the East Meadow Soccer Club (ESMC) in dedicating a soccer facility in the memory of Nassau County Police Officer Stan Ruppenthal.

“Police Officer Stan Ruppenthal was a dedicated member of the Nassau County Police Department and devoted to the East Meadow community where he served as East Meadow Soccer Club President for two decades,” said County Executive Mangano. “Officer Ruppenthal was the type of man who makes a community great.”

Nassau County allocated $725,000 in Environmental Bond Act (EBA) funds and $150,000 from the East Meadow Soccer Club to transform a storm water basin into a soccer facility, complete with both artificial and natural grass fields. Work included expanding the west side storm basin to increase capacity and improved drainage on the field will allow games to continue despite inclement weather. In the past, flooding would often result in game cancellations.

“Mr. Ruppenthal worked for years to get these fields up and running for the community to enjoy. It is very fitting that these fields now proudly bear his name,” added Presiding Officer Norma L. Gonsalves.

“I’m proud to be a part of such a heartfelt renaming dedication. Officer Ruppenthal meant a lot to his community and will not be forgotten,” stated Legislator Dennis Dunne, Sr.
