County Executive Ed Mangano congratulated the Syosset Braves High School Girls Golf Team on Tuesday for winning both the Nassau County Championship and the Long Island Championship. The team won both championships, two years in a row.

Mangano also recognized the coaching ability of the winning team’s coaches and captains, at the ceremony held in the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building in Mineola.

The County Executive presented the coach and the captains of the team with citations, in addition to presenting the two-year champions with a sign to commemorate the victory.

“This is one of the most cohesive teams I’ve ever coached,” said Coach Stephen Naranjo. “The girls really care for each other and look after each other. They have earned it.”

The team consists of players: Alexandra Chan, Elizabeth Choi, Leah Cullen, Arushi Gahlaut, Emily Kimoto, Grace Ng, Trisha Patel, Malini Rudra, Sarah Sung and Cindy Zhang; Head Coach Stephen Naranjo and Athletic Director Drew Cronin.
