Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano was joined by Juan Serrano, Director of the Office of Military and Veterans Liaison Services for North Shore LIJ in hosting a “Barracks to Business” Workshop. The free workshop allowed veterans to meet with counselors, and discussed basic subjects from applying for jobs online, to teaching the veterans the skills needed to create a military to civilian life resume.
Ralph Esposito, Director of the Nassau County Veteran Service Agency attended the event along with Anthony Silvera, who served in the Air Force and today is the Veterans Program Specialist for North Shore LIJ.
“We know how tough it must be to transition from active military service to civilian life. We have a moral obligation to help the servicemen and women seeking employment, find jobs,” remarked County Executive Mangano. “It’s our turn to “serve” all of our veterans. That’s why we’re especially proud to partner with North Shore-LIJ to hold this workshop that will prepare all of our veterans in attendance to fill some of the 1,500 open positions in the North Shore health system.”
