Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announced that three officials involved in innovation at the Manhasset-based Northwell Health System, formerly the North Shore-LIJ Health System, will speak on Monday, May 9th, from 7-9pm, at the Nassau County Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club Meeting at the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building in Mineola. Admission is free.
The three speakers from Northwell Health are:
• Tom Thornton, Senior Vice President and Executive Director of Northwell Ventures.
• Dr. David Langer, Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at Northwell’s Lenox Hill Hospital and the creator of a multimedia mobile application that transforms patient engagement and clinician communications.
• Frederick Muench, PhD., a clinical psychologist who focuses on digital health research and who is the director of Digital Health Interventions at Northwell.
Northwell Ventures, which works with doctors, scientists and staff throughout the health system to develop and advance ideas in clinical and non-clinical areas to both implement and market, has invested nearly $3 million in startup businesses, including a smartphone app and a drug trial company.
