Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announced today that his economic development teams’ success with job creation will be featured on the “Long Island Business Report” on public television WLIW. On the show, which airs on Channel 21, Nick Terzulli, Director of Business Development at the Nassau Industrial Development Agency, describes the Mangano administrations’ success in creating 25,000 new jobs.
Nassau County leads the State of New York with the lowest unemployment rate, at 4.2%, down from 7% in 2010. This success is also attributed to the IDA’s economic development plan which aggressively solicits companies to establish their headquarters here; trumpets Nassau’s quality of life and increased housing opportunities to provide forums for residents to obtain employment.
To assist growing companies, the Mangano administration and IDA have incentivized the private sector to increase much-needed rental housing for families and seniors. More than 3,500 new apartments have opened or are now under construction in Nassau, with more than 1,000 units being constructed through incentives to convert vacant office space into apartments near transit centers.
