More than 600 job seekers had the opportunity yesterday to meet with 56 different Tech Company or tech division employers, who are looking to fill more than 100 technology-related positions, County Executive Ed Mangano announced.
The County Executive was there to welcome job seekers to Nassau’s 2nd annual Technology Island Job Fair, held at the Cradle of Aviation in Garden City. He said he believes that the support and growth of our tech industry is the catalyst that will spur long-term economic success in the County.
“That is why I created a Tech Task Team, also known as T3, to bring government and the private sector together,” he said. “It’s through initiatives like today’s job fair, that we will continue to support and strengthen Nassau’s tech industry.
The Tech Task Team is co-chaired by Andrew Hazen and Peter Goldsmith –
Many of the employers there yesterday said they were very pleased with turnout and the amount of resumes they collected. One company (Access Staffing) said they have over 300 IT jobs they need to fill. Most companies though were looking to hire 2-5 employees.
“These technology-related companies are here to recruit directly from Long Island’s rich talent pool!” he said. “My administration has always been committed to helping residents find employment opportunities.”
Several years ago, the Mangano administration unveiled a state-of-the-art interactive online job program, called NassauWorks – that allows employers to post jobs for free and allow potential employees to search online for free. More than 20,000 jobs are available to view. One can sign up at http://www.nassauworks.com or download the app on your smartphone or tablet.
