The New York Beach Club in Atlantic Beach is officially open – and will likely “build a strong community and provide family oriented entertainment for Nassau,” County Executive Ed Mangano announced today, at the NYBC ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The New York Beach Club, formally known as the New Plaza Beach Club, was bought and renovated by realtor Alexander Jacobson, who also formed the New York Equestrian Center. For that center, Jacobson acquired and renovated the old Lakeside Stables in West Hempstead, to provide indoor riding lessons, and trail rides through Hempstead Lake State Park.
County Executive Mangano said that local businesses, like the NYBC, are vital to the community and the backbone of our economy.
“They create jobs, serve our residents and help keep down property taxes for our homeowners,” he said. “One of my main priorities has always been to create more private sector jobs and get people back to work.”
To accomplish this goal, the Mangano administration has hosted free private-sector job fairs, business clinics, underwriter workshops and job training and re-training. All of these efforts have especially been focused on Minority and women-owned businesses. They’ve also supported existing businesses with free clinics, job fairs and financial workshops so that they can succeed.
“Small businesses, including Mom and Pop Shops in our downtowns, make up 60 percent of the job opportunities,” the County Executive said – pointing to employment initiatives his administration has promoted. These include: partnering with chambers of commerce to promote “buy local shop local”; working to attract suppliers, distributors and manufacturers to move to – or expand in – Nassau; assembling a team of economic development professionals and business resource partners ready to assist employers looking to relocate or expand their business here.
“In doing so, the County has experienced growth in jobs and I pledge that my administration will continue to do all it can to improve our economic climate,” County Executive Mangano said in closing.
