Uniondale, NY – Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano joined local children at the first day of the “Big Daddy Youth Football Camp” at Mitchel Field Athletic Complex in Uniondale, on Monday, June 27th. Rich Salgado’s “Big Daddy Football Camp” is geared to give local children, grades 1-8, a sports education both on and off the field.
“A partnership with the Nassau County Parks Department and Rich Salgado helped bring this camp to Nassau County, and together, we welcome the children, NFL coaches, players and commentators,” said County Executive Edward P. Mangano. “This three day camp provides our youth with real training from experienced professionals on a turf field.”
Rich Salgado is a New Hyde Park native who learned the game of football on Long Island, and went on to play for the University of Maryland. Rich suffered a severe brain aneurysm in 2008. After his recovery he decided to form the “Big Daddy Foundation.” Both Rich and his brother Jim have consistently raised funds for the North Shore-LIJ, St. Jude’s and the Long Island Children’s Museum.
