Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano has announced that Long Island-based folk-rock harmony trio, Gathering Time will perform a tribute concert to Crosby, Stills & Nash, Joni Mitchell and other artists of Woodstock at Nassau County’s Grant Park in Hewlett on Tuesday, July 12th at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free.
The Gathering Time trio, who is often described as “a co-ed CSN with a jot of Joni and a bit of the Byrds,” swept the Folk DJ-Chart in March with their original CD Keepsake, taking the #1 album, #1 single and #1 artist slots, with six songs in the top-25. Besides CSN and Joni Mitchell, the trio will perform songs by Arlo Guthrie, the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, and others who performed at the famed Woodstock concert festival in 1969 in upstate Bethel, NY.
About Grant Park
Built in 1955, Grant Park sits on 35 acres in Hewlett. The park features a popular pond where residents can fish for bluegills, carp and largemouth bass. For years, thousands have flocked to its hockey rink, especially in the winter, when open ice skating is available to residents. Full tennis and basketball courts sit in the middle of the park, next to a large playground. The park also has a walking/jogging path that circles much of the park. There are two picnic areas: one is located under the trees next to a horse shoe court, while the other is located next to the pond and playgrounds.
