MANGANO: NASSAU AWARDED $5 MILLION GRANT THROUGH BRIDGE NY PROGRAM

Nassau County Executive today announced that Nassau County was awarded a $5 million grant through the BRIDGE NY Program for the rehabilitation of the Milburn Creek Culvert.

The Milburn Creek Culvert was significantly impacted by Superstorm Sandy. The rehabilitation of Milburn Creek Culvert will include the removal of debris from inside the structure, as well as repairs to the concrete, and the installation of a waterproofing membrane, which is required for the updated repairs. Additionally, the project will include road surface repairs to the existing 4-lane travel lanes on Merrick Road. This grant will provide 100% reimbursement up to $5 million.

Building upon Governor Cuomo’s investment in transforming New York’s transportation infrastructure, New York State is making available $200 million in enhanced assistance for local governments to rehabilitate and replace bridges and culverts statewide. This investment in local transportation infrastructure will support the needs of the traveling public, movement of goods and regional economic competitiveness.
