Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano announced today that Nassau Police made several drug busts this past weekend, arresting: 2 people who sold drugs to a Woodmere resident who then suffered a near-fatal overdose; a 33 year-old Hempstead man selling drugs in a Westbury bar; and a Carle Place mom smoking marijuana in her car while her 15-year-old daughter was in the car.
Narcotics Vice Squad and Fourth Squad Detectives arrested two people on Sunday, just hours after they allegedly sold crack cocaine to someone in Woodmere who then overdosed. Police also found Jennifer Pfeiffer, 40, of Woodmere, with 7.5 more grams of crack cocaine and five glassine envelopes of heroin during a search of her home.
Edwin Dejesus, 65, of Far Rockaway was arrested later that night in Inwood, for agreeing to sell heroin to someone there.
Detectives recovered a total of 73 glassine envelopes of heroin on the defendant’s person. He was arraigned on Sunday at First District Court, Hempstead and charged with multiple counts of drug possession and sales.
A day earlier – on Saturday, April 29, 2017 – Third Squad detectives arrested a 33 year-old Hempstead man outside Houlihans in Westbury for selling drugs in the bar. Nicholas Mayfield also had in his possession 42 Oxycodone pills and 28 Alprazolam. He was arraigned on Saturday, in First District Court, Hempstead.
And officers with Nassau Police Department’s Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team arrested Hilda Mejia, 37, of Carle Place, for drug possession. She had been spotted sitting in her car outside her home, smoking Marijuana with her 15-year-old daughter in the vehicle. Officers recovered more Marijuana and 51 Adderall pills in the car. Further investigation revealed the defendant had a suspended NYS Driver License.
She is charged with 4 counts of drug possession, one count of Unlawful Dealing with a Child, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd Degree. She was also arraigned on Saturday in Hempstead.
