Addiction and Recovery on College Campuses will be the topic of a free, interactive workshop being held tomorrow, for staff & personnel from all Long Island universities. It’s being presented by the Nassau County Heroin Prevention Task Force and hosted at the Morrelly Center for Homeland Security in Bethpage, Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano announced today.
Members of the Task Force’s subcommittee on Education, Prevention and Outreach will give an overview of the opiate epidemic including current drug abuse trends. Then, through discussion and the sharing of ideas with the college officials, we hope to design new best practice initiatives.
Representatives are expected from Adelphi, Farmingdale, Five Towns, Hofstra, Molloy, NCC, NYIT, Stony Brook, Suffolk CC and SUNY Old Westbury.
Colleges in The Know – Be Part of the Conversation will also offer free, lifesaving overdose prevention training with Naloxone.
It will be on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 8:30am to 2:00pm at the Morrelly Center for Homeland Security in Bethpage.
