Mineola, NY – Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano has ordered that flags on all County government buildings be flown at half-staff in remembrance of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. This will be effective starting September 8, 2017 until sunset on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.
“Monday, September 11th, will mark the sixteenth anniversary of the most horrific attacks on the shores of this great country, on thousands of its innocent residents, and on our own family members and friends. The horrendous attacks on our soil and the tragedies suffered on that day, the loss of human life, at the World Trade Center (WTC), in Washington DC, in Pennsylvania will not—and must not—ever be forgotten. We must always remember and pay tribute to the brave men and women who, risking their own safety and lives, rushed into burning buildings and charred rubble to save the lives of the innocent. So too we must honor and remember those first responders who continue suffering and giving their lives as a result of post September 11th illnesses.”
